Corvid - 19 has changed our world - few could have forseen that in such a short period the Country went into lockdown.
Change has to and will happen, and it has become evident that my work within the projects has to change too.
If change must happen we must try to make the best of it and change for the better within the set limitations.
Let's perhaps first look at te impact relevent to the projects.
Schools are closed, except for the children of keyworkers - but so are drama schools, leisure centre sports facilties, Universities - and meetings are vety limited - subject to Government guidelines.
In making changes I am trying to look at the future coming out of lockdown and moving forward.
But I also have to be realistic - school drams for example is likely to suffer badly and receive low priority.
Young actors [and film makers] are going to feel lost and concerned with limited filming, cancelled projects - lost jobs and crowded castings on limited budgets. Theatre may not open until 2021 in many cases, and some Companies not at all.
We could go on all day about the negative impact - but the truth is that solves nothing.
so our first goal, and that's my thinking with the project -is to be positive - we will come out of this - and in Boris speak "we will get it done".
I have therefore totaly rethought my work with Halfling this year - pushing forward an agenda of creative activity - key of which is drama and mixed media work and planning for the future. Ofcourse this will depend on Government guidelines to if and when we do certain activities.
The most obvious change is that I am bringing act4ward and The Halfling project together - and have put onto hold the project InvisAble Me. to explain why Invisable me is currently closed - the whole project timetable was dependent on casting in March and filming in May to September. It was also a group project so people needed to work together, be able to travel and work at locations [many of which cannot be used currently]. I seriously doubt that even if lockdown was lifted in July we would now have time to get everything planned scripted and filmed.
Better then to work more simply within act4ward, and support with The Halfling Project.
Then we simply have to concentrate on finding applicants commited to the project, as well as offering support where required.
It is my hope that former participants will play a part where practical to build up confidence in getting out there and moving life forward.
More details of how I plan to build up on this will follow in line with Government guidelines.
if your interested in getting involved just get in touch.
In the meantime take care and all the best for the future...
